Did I not comment on your machine like qualities a couple posts ago. Sheesh. Looks a-ok to me. I do like the uh... I think starkness is the word I'm thinking of, of it all. You go girl...I can't believe I just typed that. But it suits the image too. Huh? HUH? Alright...I think I need a nap.

Great job on the face, very solemn expression. And I like how she appears ghostlike emerging from the words, or do the words emerge from her?

Was this an editorial piece for a magazine?

Thanks guys. The illustration was an editorial piece for a weekly local arts and entertainment newspaper. The article was for international women's day and focused on the changes for women in Afghanistan since the war started. Some women's lives have improved, but that's not the case for all of them.

I really enjoy the simplicity of this one.

Hi Jacqueline,

Very nice...I especially like the simplicity of line and her expression. I also really like that you're using your art to help illustrate the oppression of women in Afghanistan. Art, at least to me, is always more interesting when it deals with ideas and/or the human condition. Good for you that you're using your art to help promote awareness!

Cheers,

Ana
